Football Recap: Santee Warriors vs. Stuart Broncos
Santee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 90-27 loss at the hands of the Stuart Broncos. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Broncos are ranked 35th).
Christian Torrez threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 39 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Isaiah Yellow-Cloud was his top target, picking up 154 receiving yards.
Bryer Almgren had an outrageously good game for Stuart as he rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns. Almgren showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 60 yards. Austin Connot was another key rusher, rushing for 61 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Santee's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Stuart, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santee will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Shelton at 2:00 p.m. on October 10th. As for Stuart, they will take on Heartland Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Stuart knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Heartland Lutheran likes a good challenge.
