The Mills Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Terra Nova Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mills has nine straight wins, Terra Nova has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Mills got the win against Menlo-Atherton by a conclusive 14-3. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Mills got a great performance from Hailey Pedroza as she tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Pedroza has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jazzy Maske, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jolie Wong, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Mills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Menlo-Atherton only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Terra Nova duked it out with Half Moon Bay on Friday. The Tigers took a 20-15 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. Surprisingly, this marked the Tigers' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Kylie Gangi led a balanced group of hitters, going a perfect 5-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Caitlyn Lobo was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.
Mills' victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Terra Nova, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.
Terra Nova's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mills has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Terra Nova, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Mills' sizable advantage in that area, the Tigers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mills took their victory against Terra Nova when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 18-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
