Softball Recap: Central Catholic Takes a Loss

Central Catholic had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 7-7 to make it five. They fell just short of the Notre Dame Academy Eagles by a score of 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Notre Dame Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 11th.

On Notre Dame Academy's side, the team relied heavily on Payton Shively, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Layla Smidi, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Catholic will take on Lumen Christi Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Fighting Irish's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Notre Dame Academy, they will face off against University Liggett at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
