Softball Game Preview: Frankfort Falcons vs. Weir Red Riders

The Frankfort Falcons will challenge the Weir Red Riders at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Frankfort 1.1, Weir 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Frankfort is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Hoover.

Rylee Mangold spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up ten Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Avery Noel was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Meanwhile, Weir faced Winfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Red Riders fell just short of the Generals by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Red Riders have suffered since April 5th.

Weir's loss dropped their record down to 28-9. As for Frankfort, their win bumped their record up to 28-1.

Frankfort couldn't quite finish off Weir in their previous meeting on Friday and fell 3-1. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
