Baseball Game Preview: Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha Pirates vs. Richfield Spartans

The Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha Pirates will venture away from home to square off against the Richfield Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha couldn't beat St. Anthony Village on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the seventh inning. The Pirates fell 11-8 to the Huskies.

Kennedy Capp made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jose Mendoza Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Richfield's offense. They came up short against Academy of Holy Angels on Monday, falling 10-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Spartans were not able to get on the board.

Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7. As for Richfield, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7.

Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha took their victory against Richfield when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
