Preview: Mohawk Area Warriors vs. Imani Christian Academy Saints
The Mohawk Area Warriors will face off against the Imani Christian Academy Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Mohawk Area never let their opponents score. They breezed by Burrell at home to the tune of 42-0. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Mohawk Area's seven-point performance the match before.
Justin Boston was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Jay Wrona was another key contributor, throwing for 147 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes.
Meanwhile, Imani Christian Academy waltzed into Friday's contest with five straight wins but they left with six. They blew past Waynesburg Central, posting a 52-14 victory at home. That's two games straight that Imani Christian Academy has won by exactly 38 points.
Mohawk Area's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 New Brighton and 4-7 Burrell (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.2% over those games). As for Imani Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
