Football Preview: Mira Mesa Marauders vs. University City Centurions        
        
		
             The Mira Mesa Marauders will square off against the University City Centurions at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The  squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Mira Mesa has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while University City will arrive with five straight  wins.
 Last Friday, Mira Mesa had to suffer through a   42-14 loss at the hands of Charter Oak. While losing is never fun, the Marauders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' California football rankings  (they are ranked 563rd, while the Chargers are ranked 79th).
 Meanwhile, University City humbled  Westview with  a  62-27 victory. Fans of the Centurions have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+  points.
  Nakeem Jones and  Quentyn DeMara were among the main playmakers for University City as the former gained 174 total yards and two touchdowns and the latter threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Jones showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 54 yards.  Deshaun Hille also helped with two touchdowns in total.
 Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, University City was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 240  rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  rushed for at least 186  rushing yards in three consecutive  games.
 Mira Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for University City, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the  victory, which was their fourth straight  on the road.
 Everything came up roses for Mira Mesa against University City in their previous meeting  back in October of 2019, as the  team secured  a  62-26 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was University City's  Gunnar Gray, who threw for 294 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
