Basketball Recap: Sterling Takes a Loss

Sterling won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They took a blow against the Pawnee City Indians, falling 51-13. The matchup marked the Jets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Pawnee City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kinsley Benson led the charge by putting up ten points and seven boards. Benson is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Osborne, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Sterling's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Pawnee City, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sterling will welcome Johnson-Brock on Friday. Johnson-Brock will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Sterling surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pawnee City, they will face off against Weeping Water at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
