The South Side Rams will venture away from home to square off against Sewickley Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. South Side has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for South Side's offense. They lost 15-0 to Union Area on Wednesday. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Scotties recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Meanwhile, Sewickley Academy made easy work of Bishop Canevin on Tuesday and carried off a 15-1 win. Considering Sewickley Academy has won six matches by more than 11 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Charlotte Andrews (2028) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 18 Ks. Those 18 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Marie Bigi (2025) was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with five stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Quincy Sirko (2025), who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sewickley Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Sewickley Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for South Side, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. South Side hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Sewickley Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
