Baseball Recap: Philip Simmons Finds Playoff Glory Versus East Clarendon

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Philip Simmons walked away with it. Everything went their way against the East Clarendon Wolverines on Wednesday as they made off with an 11-1 win. Considering the Iron Horses have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Peirce Mullen spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Daniel Ebeling was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Scarth, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Philip Simmons was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Clarendon only posted a batting average of .250.

The victory (which was Philip Simmons' sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-13. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for East Clarendon, their loss dropped their record down to 25-8.

As of now, neither Philip Simmons nor the Wolverines have any future games scheduled.
