Football Game Preview: Boyd Anderson Cobras vs. Palm Beach Gardens Gators

Two dominant signal callers in Ariana Stoveall and Myla Alligood are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Boyd Anderson Cobras will be playing in front of their home fans against the Palm Beach Gardens Gators at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Palm Beach Gardens' offense is going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Boyd Anderson hadn't allowed a single point the last five times they've hit the field. Boyd Anderson simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat Fort Lauderdale 53-0. With that win, the Cobras brought their scoring average up to 27.1 points per game.

It was another big night for Stoveall, who threw for 172 yards and six touchdowns while completing 81.3% of her passes, and also rushed for 30 yards and one touchdown. What's more, she racked up 154.2 passer rating, the most she's had since back in February.

Boyd Anderson's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. The heavy lifting was done by Marlie Massillon and Clintiana McCutcheon, who racked up five sacks between them. Massillon has been hot recently, having posted two or more sacks the last four times she's played.

Meanwhile, Palm Beach Gardens had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They blew past the Cobras 27-7. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Cobras are ranked 50th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Boyd Anderson better keep an eye on Alligood. She was instrumental in Palm Beach Gardens' win, throwing for 243 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 30 yards.

Palm Beach Gardens' victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.8 points on average over those games. As for Boyd Anderson, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
