Football Game Preview: Seneca Fighting Irish vs. Wilmington Wildcats

The Seneca Fighting Irish will face off against the Wilmington Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Seneca sitting on ten straight victories and Wilmington on nine.

Seneca is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They took down Riverdale 35-21. Given the Fighting Irish's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Rams are ranked 258th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wilmington). They blew past Hamilton/Warsaw 70-8 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine matchups by 23 points or more so far this season.

Wilmington's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Seneca, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.

Seneca came up short against Wilmington in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 20-14. Can the Fighting Irish avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
