The San Dieguito Academy Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the Liberty Charter Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. San Dieguito Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
While San Dieguito Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Classical Academy on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
The team relied heavily on Rachelle Acosta, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Gigi Bennett also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Liberty Charter unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Morse on Wednesday.
Liberty Charter saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kady McHenry, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another was Julia Peterson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
San Dieguito Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-1-1. As for Liberty Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
