Basketball Recap: Valley Regional Comes Up Short

Valley Regional managed to keep up with Coginchaug Regional until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Valley Regional Warriors came up short against the Coginchaug Regional Blue Devils, falling 70-50. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 66-46 back in January.

Despite the loss, Valley Regional still got an impressive performance from Rex Grabowski, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Grabowski also posted a 69% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Thomas Troy was another key player, putting up eight points and 12 boards.

Valley Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Coginchaug Regional, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Valley Regional does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Coginchaug Regional, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-60 loss against East Hampton on the 22nd.
