Baseball Recap: Green Gets the Win

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Green ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Clay Panthers. The win continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won six in a row.

Jonathan Knapp was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mason Neal was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Noah McMackin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Green's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Clay, they moved to 8-3 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Green will welcome Fairview at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clay, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Glenwood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
