Football Game Preview: Edison Red Raiders vs. Monsignor Pace Spartans

The Edison Red Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Monsignor Pace Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Edison is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Keys Gate a 33-0 shutout. The Red Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by 28 points or more this season.

Rakyia Louis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 262 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.6% of her passes, and also punching in one rushing score. She is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as she's now passed for four or more in each of the last four games she's played. Malayisa David also helped with two TDs in total.

Edison's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. The heavy lifting was done by Jennifer Burton and Armardi Danquah, who racked up seven sacks between them.

Meanwhile, Monsignor Pace put their dominant defense on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They breezed past Pinecrest Glades Academy to the tune of 32-0.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Edison, bringing their record up to 15-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.5 points on average over those games. As for Monsignor Pace, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Edison was able to grind out a solid victory over Monsignor Pace when the teams last played back in April of 2023, winning 7-0. Do the Red Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
