Soccer Game Preview: Pleasant Grove vs. Westlake

For the first time this season, Pleasant Grove will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Friday. They will venture away from home to challenge the Westlake Thunder at 7:00 p.m. Pleasant Grove's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Pleasant Grove fought the good fight in their overtime game against Weber on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 1-0. The Vikings' loss signaled the end of their undefeated season.

Meanwhile, Westlake faced Syracuse in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Westlake fell just short of Syracuse by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty seven goals in the game before, the Thunder couldn't push the score so high this time.

Having lost for the first time this season, Pleasant Grove fell to 6-1. As for Westlake, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-3.

Pleasant Grove skirted past Westlake 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Pleasant Grove repeat their success, or does Westlake have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
