Softball Game Preview: Lancaster Red Devils vs. Rappahannock Raiders

Lancaster hasn't had much luck against Rappahannock recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Red Devils will take on the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Lancaster sitting on seven straight wins and Rappahannock on 14.

Lancaster is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Westmoreland by a score of 9-4.

Braelyn Johnson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Kelsey Bishoff was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Elizabeth Keyser was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Rappahannock came out on top against Northumberland on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Raiders blew past the Indians 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Rappahannock pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lancaster, their record is now 16-9.

Lancaster couldn't quite get it done against Rappahannock when the teams last played back in May as they fell 8-3. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
