Volleyball Recap: Alexis Witzel's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Burney over Chester + How To Watch

Burney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Chester Volcanoes. Unfortunately, that's the fifth time they've come up short against the Volcanoes this season, with their most recent defeat being a 3-0 loss back in September.

Burney started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 10-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-21.

Burney lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Alexis Witzel, who had 55 digs, ten kills, and three blocks. She has been hot, having posted 20 or more digs the last six times she's played. Ciera Wilson was another key player, getting 52 digs and three assists.

Burney's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Chester, their win bumped their record up to 17-10.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Burney is set to square off against their familiar foe Los Molinos at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Chester will face off against rival CORE Butte at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
