Basketball Recap: Clayton Comets vs. Willow Spring Storm
Clayton came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were dealt a 47-19 defeat at the hands of the Willow Spring Storm. The Comets have struggled against the Storm recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Taylor Gray was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards for Willow Spring. Gray is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last 17 games she's played. Amanda Mitchell was another key player, putting up eight points and 15 rebounds.
Clayton's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Willow Spring, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clayton will welcome Corinth Holders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Corinth Holders has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Willow Spring, they will take on Southeast Raleigh at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Southeast Raleigh will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Willow Spring surely won't give up without a fight.
