Recap: Central Bulldogs vs. Clever Blue Jays
The Central Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. The game between Central and Clever wasn't particularly close, with Central falling 55-38.
Clever's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayleign Flood, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Ireland Jones, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Central's loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-2. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Clever, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Central will head out on the road to face off against Springfield Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Springfield Catholic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Clever will be home for the holidays to greet Glendale at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Glendale will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
