Baseball Game Preview: Catholic Central Crusaders vs. Conotton Valley Rockets

The Catholic Central Crusaders are taking a road trip to face off against the Conotton Valley Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Catholic Central has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Catholic Central lost 11-4 to Steubenville on Thursday.

Catholic Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Fayak, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Matthew Jones, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Conotton Valley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Saints a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Rockets have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Conotton Valley got a massive performance out of Garrett Reiter, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Reiter has posted since back in April. Konnor Witts also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Conotton Valley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Catholic Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Catholic Central might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Conotton Valley in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Crusaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
