Basketball Recap: Bartram Trail Falls Despite Big Games from Esabella Brenneman and Miranda Campos

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Bartram Trail can now relate to. They received a blow on Saturday as they fell 52-37 to the Tocoi Creek Toros. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Toros: they've now lost three in a row.

Miranda Campos and Esabella Brenneman certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Campos dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds, while Brenneman posted ten points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Campos a new career-high in boards. London Jackson also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Tocoi Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Audrey Beyer, who earned 25 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Beyer has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gabi Iturralde, who went 6 for 14 to rack up 15 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Bartram Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Tocoi Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
