Washington had lost four games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 2-6 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They snuck past the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars with a 38-34 victory. The Pam Pack's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Evan Makepeace threw for 100 yards and one TD on only nine passes. Jarryn Payne was his top target, picking up 79 receiving yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Anderson Thomas rushed for 175 yards and four scores while picking up 8.8 yards per carry.

As for SouthWest Edgecombe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4. Despite 88 more yards than Washington, the Cougars couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

SouthWest Edgecombe lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Devion Mayo Jr, who rushed for 66 yards and three scores, and also threw for 181 yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Andre Downey Jr, who gained 156 total yards and a touchdown.

Coming up, Washington will take on Eastern Wayne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, they will face off against West Craven at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
