Baseball Game Preview: Del Mar Dons vs. Gilroy Mustangs

The Del Mar Dons will venture away from home to square off against the Gilroy Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses apiece.

Piedmont Hills hit Del Mar with a six-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dons lost 10-3 to the Pirates.

Meanwhile, Gilroy fell victim to Lincoln and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 8-0. The shutout was out of character for the Mustangs seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Gilroy's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Del Mar, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.

Del Mar skirted past Gilroy 7-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
