Baseball Recap: Plainfield Takes a Loss

Plainfield had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 7-8 to make it six. They lost 12-1 to the Union Catholic Vikings. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

As for Union Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

For Union Catholic's part, Jake Revuelta looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Revuelta a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Brayden Morrison was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Brian McCabe was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plainfield will square off against Shabazz at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Union Catholic, they will challenge Governor Livingston at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
