Basketball Game Preview: West Mecklenburg Hawks vs. Monroe Redhawks + How To Watch

Having just played yesterday, the West Mecklenburg Hawks will get right back to it and host the Monroe Redhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Mecklenburg has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while Monroe will come in with three straight victories.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 61-30, which was the final score in West Mecklenburg's tilt against Stuart W. Cramer on Monday.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Monroe against Central on Friday as the squad secured a 72-37 win.

Monroe found their leader in sophomore Janiyah Boyd, who dropped a double-double with 38 points and ten steals. The game was Boyd's 25th in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deianna Walters, who posted 12 points along with six boards and four steals.

Monroe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.

West Mecklenburg's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Monroe, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

West Mecklenburg was taken down by Monroe 57-27 in their previous matchup back in November. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Boyd, who went 8-for-15 to rack up 22 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.
