Basketball Recap: Ivee Enewold's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Glenwood Springs over Eagle Valley

After flying high against Battle Mountain last Thursday, Glenwood Springs came back down to earth. The Glenwood Springs Demons took a 55-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagle Valley Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-37 two weeks ago.

Several Demons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ivee Enewold, who went 6-for-10 on her way to 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Enewold a new career-high in points. Lyndsay Helms was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Glenwood Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eagle Valley only nine offensive rebounds.

Eagle Valley's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zakia Shreeve, who went 7-for-11 en route to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Shreeve has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Mandeville, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 13 points and six steals.

Glenwood Springs has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. The win was the third in a row for Eagle Valley, bringing their record for this year to 11-11.

Glenwood Springs wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-50 victory against Summit on the 20th. As for Eagle Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 43-28 win against Battle Mountain on the 20th.
