Volleyball Game Preview: Satellite Scorpions vs. Merritt Island Mustangs

Satellite hasn't had much luck against Merritt Island recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Scorpions will challenge the Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Saturday.

Satellite is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Weeki Wachee.

Satellite not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Weeki Wachee between 16 and 18 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-16, 25-16.

Meanwhile, Merritt Island waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with 19 straight wins... but they left with 20. They put the hurt on the Leopards with a sharp 3-0 victory.

The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-15, 25-18.

Satellite better focus on containing Reece Loggins and Sarah Niazi as the pair were huge in Merritt Island's win. Loggins had nine digs and two aces, while Niazi had nine digs and two assists.

Merritt Island was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 11 consecutive matches.

Satellite's record now sits at 16-9. As for Merritt Island, their record is now 26-2.

Satellite might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Merritt Island when the teams last played on Thursday.
