Football Game Preview: Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights vs. Sierra Vista Mountain Lions + How To Watch

The Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights will square off against the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Mater Academy East Las Vegas' favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last six contests.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Mater Academy East Las Vegas against Eldorado as the team secured a 40-8 victory. Considering the Knights have won five games by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

A big part of Mater Academy East Las Vegas' win came down to the chemistry between James Monaghan IV and his top target Majik McMillion. Monaghan IV threw for 197 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 passes while McMillion picked up 48 receiving yards and one TD. Monaghan IV has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last five times he's played.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas' defense made their presence known, laying out the QB seven times. Quenshawn 'Q' Tinner was especially locked on to Eldorado's QB and sacked him twice. Mater Academy East Las Vegas is undefeated when Tinner posts one or more sacks, but 2-3 otherwise.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 56 points the game before, Sierra Vista was a bit more limited in their matchup two weeks ago. They took a 14-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Spring Valley. Mountain Lions fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Grizzlies since two weeks ago.

Sierra Vista didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Trenton Mitchell.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.0 points over those games. As for Sierra Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
