The Miami Valley Christian Academy Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Fayetteville-Perry Rockets at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Miami Valley Christian Academy made easy work of Norwood and carried off a 16-6 victory. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Meanwhile, Fayetteville-Perry had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They never let Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Friday. The Rockets not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 13-2).
Parker Pfankuch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
In other batting news, AJ Roy and Alex Williamson did most of the damage at the plate: Roy went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Williamson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Williamson has posted since back in March of 2024. Carter Gallinger was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Fayetteville-Perry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Miami Valley Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 15-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Fayetteville-Perry, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-10.
Miami Valley Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Fayetteville-Perry in their previous meeting back in May of 2022, winning 6-2. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
