New Ulm and Mankato West are an even 4-4 against one another since June of 2016, but likely not for long. The Eagles will welcome the Scarlets at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (New Ulm 3.3, Mankato West 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Thursday, New Ulm made easy work of Worthington and carried off a 14-3 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.

Cullen Slette looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Cohen Domeier was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dirk Haynes, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

New Ulm kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Mankato West faced Owatonna in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Scarlets came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 8-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Scarlets.

New Ulm has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mankato West, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
