Basketball Recap: Taravella Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Taravella and Cypress Bay squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Taravella had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 64-7 loss at the hands of the Cypress Bay Lightning. The Trojans have struggled against the Lightning recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Cypress Bay found their leader in sophomore Ellie McKinney, who went 6 for 10 en route to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. Those seven steals gave McKinney a new career-high. Agam Gago was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten steals.

Taravella now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Cypress Bay, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Taravella does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cypress Bay, they will square off against Western at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
