Lumberton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Friday, they were much more limited against Cape Fear on Monday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colts. While losing is never fun, Lumberton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 345th, while Cape Fear are ranked 128th).

Meanwhile, Purnell Swett kept a clean sheet against Douglas Byrd on Friday. They blew past the Eagles 9-0. The result was nothing new for Purnell Swett, who have now won six matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Douglas Byrd from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Sarah Hunt led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Purnell Swett is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those four contests. Lumberton's loss dropped their record down to 5-8-1.
