Football Recap: Fairhope Starts Season with Loss on the Road + How To Watch

Fairhope kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 27-7 to the Spanish Fort Toros. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Trey Garner threw for 107 yards on eight of 22 attempts. Fisher Southall was his top target, picking up 69 receiving yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spanish Fort to victory, but perhaps none more so than Justin 'JuJu' Bonner, who rushed for 111 yards and two TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaden Shamburger, who rushed for 101 yards on only 11 carries.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairhope will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Faith Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Spanish Fort, they will host Theodore at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th. This will be the Toros' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
