Basketball Recap: Hiwassee Dam's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Hiwassee Dam had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Copper Basin Cougars by a score of 57-49 on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 78-65 back in November of 2024.

Talon Smith and Carson Parris certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Smith almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds, while Parris went 5 of 7 en route to 12 points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Smith has posted since back in November of 2024.

Hiwassee Dam wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 76-63 victory against Nantahala on the 28th. Copper Basin has also already played their next contest, a 74-45 loss against Sale Creek on the 24th.
