Football Game Preview: Avon Pirates vs. St. Mary Cardinals

The Avon Pirates will square off against the St. Mary Cardinals at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Avon sitting on three straight victories and St. Mary on 11.

Avon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 38-28 win over Colman-Egan.

Meanwhile, St. Mary faced Faulkton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cardinals managed a 22-16 victory over the Trojans. Those 22 points were actually the fewest the Cardinals have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Avon's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for St. Mary, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.

Avon couldn't quite finish off St. Mary in their previous matchup back in November of 2021 and fell 32-30. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
