Basketball Game Preview: Galion Tigers vs. River Valley Vikings

Galion hasn't had much luck against River Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Galion Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the River Valley Vikings at 7:15 p.m.

Last Friday, Galion was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-43 to Pleasant.

Meanwhile, River Valley waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They really took it to the Fighting Scots for the full four quarters, racking up a 76-39 victory. That 37 point margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.

River Valley's win came from a few key players Galion will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sawyer Weston, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 20 points and three steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Myers, who went 8 of 9 on his way to 19 points.

River Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

River Valley pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.5 points per game. As for Galion, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Galion came up short against River Valley in their previous meeting back in February, falling 51-47. Can Galion avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
