Football Game Preview: Crosby Cougars vs. Fort Bend Kempner Cougars + How To Watch

Crosby will venture away from home to challenge Fort Bend Kempner at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Crosby has three straight victories, Fort Bend Kempner has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Crosby is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Kingwood Park: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cougars blew the Panthers out of the water with a 52-7 final score. The Cougars pushed the score to 42-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers had no chance of recovering from.

Crosby's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lott Robison led the charge by throwing for 262 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 42 yards and one score. Those 262 passing yards gave Robison a new career-high. T-Zion Sutherland was another key rusher, gaining 187 total yards and two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Crosby was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 270 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 63.7 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 192.

Meanwhile, Fort Bend Kempner was beaten by La Porte 63-12 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 684th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 86th).

Fort Bend Kempner's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Crosby, the win also got them back to even at 3-3.

Everything came up roses for Crosby against Fort Bend Kempner when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 59-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crosby since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
