Basketball Recap: Bellarmine Prep's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Bellarmine Prep entered their contest against North Thurston on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bellarmine Prep Lions received a blow as they fell 57-43 to the North Thurston Rams.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyla Frazier, who went 8 of 17 en route to 22 points and eight boards. Frazier's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Melina Petramalo, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

North Thurston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shayla Cordis led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 23 points and nine boards. Cordis has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Soraya Ogaldez was another key player, putting up 18 points and four steals.

Bellarmine Prep's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-3. As for North Thurston, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1.
