League recap: Cornerstone Christian enters state Top 25 with win

Majestic (8 Man) recap Nov. 7, 2012

Cornerstone Christian was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting California Lutheran. The Crusaders came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.

Marywood-Palm Valley extended the longest winning streak in Majestic (8 Man) this week by beating St. Michael's Prep, 88-72. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Sebastian Engelsted and Brandon Garcia gave Marywood-Palm Valley a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Engelsted threw for 78 yards and two touchdowns, while Garcia ran for 380 yards. Teammate Daniel Stewart added to the ground attack by rushing for 92 yards.

Jake Anderson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Cornerstone Christian topped the C-Hawks. The 6-foot-0 senior grabbed one interception and racked up one sack.

Josiah Tupaj was the best wideout in the league this week as Bill Jarvis' team beat California Lutheran. Tupaj tallied two receptions for 99 yards. Zack Brisson helped Cornerstone Christian's passing attack out by catching three balls for 60 yards.

6-foot-2 quarterback Kyle Kooser of Crossroads Christian is the league leader in passing yards this season with 547. He has also thrown nine touchdowns. On the ground, Travis Smith's team's Garcia has rushed for 1453 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Joe Cody. The Cornerstone Christian star has 14 catches for 345 yards.

In 143 carries Nathan Ostrowski has accumulated 900 yard this year.

The Crusaders and Dave Peter's team played the most hotly contested game in Majestic (8 Man) this week, with the Crusaders eventually emerging with a 26-22 victory. Cody threw for 99 yards and one touchdown, ran for 157 yards and caught one passes for six yards in the win.
