Basketball Game Preview: Cheraw Wolverines vs. Holly Wildcats

Cheraw hasn't had much luck against Holly recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cheraw Wolverines will face off against the Holly Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Cheraw is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Springfield on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Cheraw came up short against Springfield, falling 64-44.

Meanwhile, Holly lost to Kim/Branson on the road by a 62-48 margin on Monday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cheraw will have to contain Devin Eaton as he made an impact in Holly's last game. He dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards. Eaton's afternoon made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Drayden Williams was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Holly smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kim/Branson only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.

Cheraw's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Holly, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-7.

Cheraw lost to Holly on the road by a decisive 48-31 margin when the teams last played back in January of 2018. Can Cheraw avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
