Baseball Recap: Reed Falls Short of Galena in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Reed can now relate to. They came up short against the Galena Grizzlies on Thursday, falling 11-4. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Grizzlies earlier this season, when they won 8-6.

Kannen Stenberg-Klamut was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Michael Challacomb made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Reed's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 13-16 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Nicholas Leonard, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Reed's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-17. As for Galena, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season.

Reed does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Galena, they have already played their next game, a 7-2 defeat against Spanish Springs on the 9th.
