Basketball Recap: St. Paul's Prep Comes Up Short

After flying high against Joshua Christian last Tuesday, St. Paul's Prep came back down to earth. The St. Paul's Prep Lions came up short against the Grace Christian Academy Colts on Tuesday, falling 70-50. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Colts earlier this season, when they won 29-27.

When it comes to explaining why St. Paul's Prep lost, don't look at Wyatt Tate. Despite the final result, he posted 16 points and three steals. Tate is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. JJ Ramirez was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Even though they lost, St. Paul's Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

St. Paul's Prep's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Grace Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Paul's Prep will host Community Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grace Christian Academy, they will face off against Varsity Opponent at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
