It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Middlebury ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rice Memorial Green Knights, sneaking past 16-15. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won three matches in a row.

Middlebury pushed their record up to 4-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Rice Memorial, they moved to 8-2 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Middlebury will take on rival Vergennes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Rice Memorial is set to square off against their familiar foe Milton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
