Basketball Game Preview: St. Joseph Jayhawks vs. San Juan Broncos

The St. Joseph Jayhawks will head out to square off against the San Juan Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, St. Joseph was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 62-57 to Maeser Prep Academy. The loss continues a trend for the Jayhawks in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, San Juan had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against the Red Devils by a score of 67-56.

San Juan's win came from a few key players St. Joseph will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tripp Palmer, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most boards he has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Ivins, who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists.

San Juan was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grand County only racked up nine assists.

San Juan now has a winning record of 12-11. As for St. Joseph, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-17.
