Softball Recap: Monte Vista Monarchs vs. Mount Miguel Matadors
Monte Vista extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-14 in the process. They came up short against the Mount Miguel Matadors, falling 21-13. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Matadors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 back in April.
As for Mount Miguel, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8. The result was nothing new for the Matadors, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.
For Mount Miguel's part, they got a massive performance out of Jamiya Edwards, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Edwards a new career-high. Jasmine Bosley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Looking ahead, Monte Vista will take on El Cajon Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mount Miguel, they will face off against Crawford at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Colts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.27 runs per game on average), something the Matadors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
