Recap: Gilbert Tigers vs. Desert Vista Thunder

The Gilbert Tigers pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Desert Vista. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (57), Gilbert still had to take the loss.

Gilbert lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaelen Green, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Nazir Richardson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Desert Vista's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Damian (DJ) Spencer led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lorenzo (LJ) Diamond, who scored 17 points along with two steals.

Gilbert's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Desert Vista, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Gilbert does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Desert Vista, they will head out on the road to challenge Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 contests -- so hopefully Highland likes a good challenge.
