Softball Game Preview: Evansville Memorial Tigers vs. Owensboro Catholic Aces

Evansville Memorial hasn't had much luck against Owensboro Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Aces at 5:30 p.m. Evansville Memorial will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Evansville Memorial will bounce into Monday's match after beating Evansville North, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Tigers came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 4-1 on Saturday.

Brianna Canaan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Evansville Memorial's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Annie Blackburn, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Meanwhile, neither Owensboro Catholic nor Graves County could gain the upper hand on Saturday so the two teams had to settle for an 8-8 tie.

With that draw, Owensboro Catholic's record moves to 7-11-2. As for Evansville Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Evansville Memorial beat Owensboro Catholic 3-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Aces have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
