While Armstrong's win against Watseka wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Warriors 8-7. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Armstrong got a big performance out of Konner Asbury, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhys Showalter, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Armstrong always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Watseka only posted an OBP of .343.
Armstrong pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Watseka, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-12.
Looking ahead, Armstrong is taking a road trip to challenge Milford at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Watseka, they will welcome Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
